On July 9th Baha'is will commemorate the Martyrdom of the Bab, the forerunner of Baha'u'llah.
In addition, Baha'is around the country celebrated Race Unity Day in June, which was inaugurated by the National Spiritiual Assembly of the Baha'is of the United States in 1957 to promote racial harmony and understanding.
The Baha'i Calendar consist of 19 months of 19 days each and includes nine holy days when work and school are suspended. The colorful, circular image of the calendar, as designed by calligrapher, Randall Dighton, is just one way to represent the Baha'i calendar (also known as the Badi calendar).
